Ditch The All or Nothing Attitude

Ever feel like you’re in a stop-start cycle?

If you’re either ‘on it’ or ‘off it’ you’ve very little chance of making real changes in the longterm.

Maybe you feel ‘on it’ every Monday, or every 1st of the month.

If you put loads of effort into being ‘on it’ this week…

Then spend next week being ‘off it’…

Undoing all your progress…

You’ll still be in the same position you are now by the end of the month.

Not only that, you’ll probably end up feeling like you wasted your time, or that you failed.

(Anyone who’s in this cycle never ends up with a ‘net positive’ feeling towards health and fitness).

So, ditch the All or Nothing attitude:

  • Look back at all those times you feel like you’ve failed or wasted your time. I’ll bet you can learn something from them. Maybe you can rule a certain diet out? Or know you feel great when you do a certain type of exercise? We can use that information going forward, and that’s step 1.
  • Instead of trying to overhaul your entire diet, or  go to the gym 5 times a week, what change could you make that you’ll be able to stick with? Something so so easy that it seems TOO easy. That’s step 2.

Small changes done consistently week after week lead to results.

It’s not particularly exciting, and it doesn’t have a catchy name, but it WORKS!

Build some habits you can stick to, and ENJOY the freedom it brings you.

If you know your habits get you 80% of the way there, you don’t need to feel guilty when you have a meal out or a takeaway, or miss a workout here and there.
