Decision Fatigue: How To Make Fat Loss Easier

Diets are hard.

What makes them harder?

Having to make decisions all the time!

Decision fatigue makes it much harder to reach a fat loss goal.

How many times a day do you eat?

Even when you’re on a diet, I’m hoping it’s a minimum of 5 or 6.

If you need to use both willpower and brainpower every time, that gets pretty exhausting pretty quickly.

SO, what can we do?

Take away some choice.

Humans have an infinite number of choices these days.

It’s amazing, it’s brilliant, but it makes hard things harder.

When it comes to food, you can get anything at all at the click of a button.

It’s amazing, but it can also get pretty overwhelming.

When we’re overwhelmed, we either take no action or the easiest action.

It’s very easy to ‘fall off the diet waggon’ because you either stopped taking action, or took an easier action that didn’t align with your fat loss goal.

So, take away some choice.

  • Set up your environment for success. Have the healthy foods you like, and the people who support you, around you.
  • Plan some meals, plan some snacks. Have some easy go-to foods that fit with your goal nearby, for those times when you need to eat without brainpower or willpower.
  • Have a routine. It doesn’t need to be a rigid plan that’s hard to stick to, it just needs to be enough to take the thinking out of eating.

Don’t let dieting get complicated and overwhelming.

Keep things realistic, set yourself up for success, and start taking action.
